The Redstone-Huntsville Chapter, Association of the United States Army (AUSA) was designated best Overall Chapter AUSA in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 at the AUSA Annual Meeting. We’re working hard to repeat that honor in 2009. Last week the Chapter was honored to receive the second place 3rd Region AUSA President's Trophy for Large Chapter Excellence 2008. Congratualtions to the Braxton Bragg Chapter for taking first place. Chapter membership exceeds 2,900 Individual Members and 320 Corporate Members. The roster of Chapter Officers and Board Member reflects the broad support of the Chapter and its activities within the Tennessee Valley Community and upper Alabama.

The Redstone-Huntsville Chapter furthers the aims and objectives of AUSA with a range of programs that promote the Army and support Soldiers (Active, Army Reserve and Army National Guard), their Families and Department of the Army Civilians (DAC), veterans and retirees within our geographical area (Northern Alabama and counties in Tennessee). The Chapter region includes the cities of Huntsville, Birmingham, Florence (University of North Alabama Sub-Chapter) and Anniston (Satellite-Chapter lead by Mr. Ken Reynolds.

Recent Chapter events include the Team Redstone Army Birthday celebration, the Tactical Missiles Conference, the DAC of the Year Dinner, participation in Junior and Senior ROTC Award ceremonies, “Welcome Home” ceremonies for Soldiers and units returning from deployments, sports event sponsorships providing free tickets to Soldiers and their families, and the third annual First Sergeant John Ordway Award recognizing the best First Sergeants (Active, Reserve & National Guard) in the Chapter area.

Chapter programs in the fall will be just as diverse beginning with a ‘Bosses Breakfast’ with a local commander/leader and include a Homecoming Celebration for Chapter members after the Annual AUSA meeting, Redstone Arsenal Retiree Day activities, Veterans Day Dinner and Parade Sponsorship, and continued support to Soldier and Non-Commissioned Officer recognition ceremonies. The year culminates with our annual Christmas Season reception to honor our Corporate Members and their support of the Chapter throughout the year.

The Redstone-Huntsville Chapter’s award winning website (www.ausaredstone.org) includes an archive of the Chapter’s SALUTE news letter with additional details on the Chapter’s programs.
