The AUSA Newell Rubbermaid Volunteer Family of the Year Award recognizes an exceptional Army family whose dedicated volunteer service significantly contributes to improving Army well-being and the well-being of the local community.
The winning family receives a trip to Washington D.C. for the Annual Meeting, a cash prize and a gift basket courtesy of Rubbermaid, AUSA and GEICO. Two runner-up families will also be selected and each will receive a savings bond and gift basket. All nominated families will receive an Association coin and certificate.
Nominations for the 2008 AUSA Newell Rubbermaid Volunteer Family of the Year Award are now closed. The winners of this year's award will be announced in September. The Wiles Family believes that it is a privilege to be an Army family and therefore it is their responsibility to give back to the community in which they live. Command Sergeant Major and Mrs. Brian Wiles and their sons, Alexander and Phillip are outstanding examples of what Army families are all about.

2002 AUSA, Rubbermaid Salute Knox Family
The first recipients of the AUSA Rubbermaid Volunteer Family of the Year Award received their award at the opening ceremony of the 2002 Annual Meeting. Sergeant First Class and Mrs. Lynn Dedeaux, along with their two daughters Sydney and Jade, were a truly inspiring example of the volunteer spirit celebrated through this award.
