Military Housing Assistance Fund (MHAF) assists military families in purchasing their own home. MHAF awards grants to families that do not need to be repaid. Families must apply and grants are awarded based on need.

A U.S. Government web site aimed at improving the financial literacy of American families featuring information on home buying, balancing a checkbook, investment and savings.

National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE)
The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) foundation dedicated to helping all Americans acquire the information and gain the skills necessary to take control of their personal finances.

National Foundation for Consumer Credit (NFCC)
NFCC has over 900 local offices throughout the country offering budget counseling and education, debt management plans, and financial literacy counseling.

Project for Financial Independence
The Project for Financial Independence connects volunteer financial professionals with individuals and families in need of debt counseling.

Save and Invest
Save and Invest, a project of the NASD Investor Education Foundation, is an online resource center providing information on saving and investing, and links to financial education resources.

The Financial Planning Association (FPA)
The financial planners of the FPA can offer pro bono advice and guidance to military families. Military family members, especially families of Reservists called to active duty, can also contact the FPA at Military-supportcenter@fpanet.org

The Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation
The Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation assists military personnel and their families who face financial issues due to predatory lending and offers assistance to service members wounded in action.

Women’s Institute for Financial Education
The Women’s Institute for Financial Education (WIFE.org) is the oldest non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial education to women in their quest for financial independence.

Better Business Bureau Military Line
BBB Military Line is a program of the non-profit U.S. Better Business Bureau (BBB) system, and encourages service members, retirees, DoD civilians and their families to use the free consumer services and materials offered by the BBB.

Military Sentinel
Military Sentinel is a project of the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Defense to identify and target consumer protection issues that affect members of the United States Armed Forces and their families.

Free Annual Credit Report
AnnualCreditReport.com allows consumers to obtain a free credit report from each of the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) once every twelve months in accordance with the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act).
