Central California and San Francisco Chapters
The Chapters joined to help sponsor the US Army Reserve's 6045th Garrison Support Unit's Family Day held at the Private Richey Reserve Center in San Jose, CA, on December 3rd. The Unit's Family Readiness Group received a generous donation to assist in its efforts to support Reserve families.
Greater New York Statue of Liberty Chapter
Donated $4750 to support the Divisions home coming event, the MP Battalions Family Support Activities and the Regiments KIA Fund.
Sun Cost Chapter
The Chapter donated $5000 to support Haley House which provides lodging for family members visiting their wounded soldiers recuperating at the VA center.
Joined in Soldier/Family Christmas Day celebration and provided coins and chapter T-Shirts.
GA Omar Bradley Chapter
The chapter's wounded warrior program has accepted donations of Frequent Flyer Miles. To date we have purchased 7 round trip tickets so some of our Wounded Warriors may go home and spend time with their families.
Fort Hood and Central Texas Chapter
On October 24, 2006, the Fort Hood and Central Texas Chapter of AUSA presented the newly created Fort Hood Gold Star Family Support Center with $2,500. The Center provides Gold Star families with continuing care, contact and concern beyond that typically found in established DA Survivor Assistance Programs. This effort is just one of many examples of how the Fort Hood and Central Texas Chapter is helping Soldiers and families. Recently, the Chapter presented the 4th Infantry Division Memorial Foundation with a $2,000 donation to in honor of 4ID Soldiers lost in this most recent deployment to Iraq. It also donated $5000.00 to support the welcome home ceremony for the 4th Infantry Division and other units deployed from Fort Hood.
Tennessee-Kentucky Chapter (Fort Campbell, KY)
Every unit redeploying to Fort Campbell gets a huge welcome home from members of AUSA’s Tennessee-Kentucky Chapter. The “Hangar Rats,” as the Chapter is now known, provide food and refreshment for returning Soldiers and their waiting families.
The Detroit Chapter has donated money to the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation to fund the building of a Hospice and Palliative Care Suite at Walter Reid Army Medical Center. The Facility is designed to provide hospice care for Soldiers suffering from terminal illnesses. The Chapter also contributed to the 177th MP Brigade Soldier's Fund (Michigan Army National Guard) to support the families of deployed Soldiers.
Fairfax Lee Chapter (Virginia)
The Fairfax-Lee Chapter presented scholarships totaling $22,000.to college bound students. Six scholarships were sponsored by corporate members including Lockheed Martin Rockwell, Hilton Springfield, Peduzzi Associates LTD, and AM General.
Suncoast Chapter (Florida)
The Suncoast Chapter donated $5000 to support the Haley House to provide lodging for family members who are visiting wounded soldiers recovering at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa, FL. The Chapter also contributed $5000 to support the Army National Guard's 53rd Infantry Brigade’s Salute to Florida's Heroes for Soldiers who have recently returned from Afghanistan.
