State Resources for Military Families
State governments are doing much to improve the quality of life of military personnel and their families by implementing a variety of programs and services, such as tax relief, in-state tuition, housing and employment assistance and educational support. The following links provide military families with information to help them find specific programs in the states where they live.
Council of State Governments
(CSG)
The CSG serves state leaders with policy guidance and innovative solutions to current problems at the state level. Currently, the CSG oversees the
Interstate Compact for Educational Opportunity for Military Children
which encourages states to make it easier for military children to transition between schools.
DisabilityInfo.gov
A federal website providing access to information about disability programs, services, laws and benefits for people with disabilities. A state resources locator is available.
In-State Tuition
A Department of Defense website providing information regarding eligibility of active military service members and their families for in-state college tuition rates in their home state or state of duty assignment.
USA4Military Families
This Department of Defense initiative seeks to engage and educate state policymakers, not-for-profit associations, concerned business interests, and other state leaders about the needs of military members and their families and to encourage state leaders to develop state/military partnerships to improve quality of life for military families.
